Quintin 7 – 26 Hackney
This game was identified as winnable, and on the day it should have been possible, though the better team ran out comfortable victors. A couple of early breaks with a few fortuitous bounces saw them score two first half tries.
Hackney were on top for the first 60 minutes and in their inside centre probably have the one of the best players in the league, who caused Q’s problems all game.
The positive for Quintin was the resolve and resilience shown to be the better side at the end, if only playground rules last score wins was still in force! When Q’s opened up the game and increased the pace of their play, Hackney were reeling, a couple of scoring opportunities but following good quick ball and several quick phases Q’s moved from their own 22 for Damo to score under the posts unopposed.
All Q’s need next week is for that finish from the start.
