Quintin 29 - British Airways 7

Quintin win crucial game!!!

After the London French defeat, Quintin targeted the upcoming games as being crucial to win if promotion were to be a realistic prospect. Against French, the forwards realised that they were not playing to their full potential, with the lineout barely functioning, and few players stepping up as an option to run off the fly half. With this in mind, everyone bar Cooney met at the clubhouse at around 1:30 to practice drills, Cooney minced in soon afterwards reeking of lavender.

Quintin started the match how they meant to carry on, conceding a penalty from the kick-off allowing BA to relieve the pressure. Despite this Q’s started the brighter and should have taken the lead when Sanger beat the BA cover defence on the outside but with only the full-back to beat and with JZ in support he cut inside running into JZ conceding a penalty.

The lineout was showing dramatic improvement, Rob was complementing his fine running around the park with aggressive defensive work in the lineout, and Jason was secure at four jumper.

The Quintin pack started to exert its superiority driving forward with man-of-the –match Rob to the fore. BA conceded the inevitable penalty and Sanger put Qs in front. Soon after JZ got his try being put through with 22m to go, Sanger converted to put Quintin in control at 10-0 up.

In games against the better teams discipline is crucial and Qs let themselves down again in the first half with BA getting slow ball Dykie needlessly came offside in the middle of the pitch to allow BA to push Qs back into their own 22. Qs didn’t manage to relieve the pressure with BA eventually going over under the posts to bring the score back to 10-7 – a Vickery like trip/tackle from Deviant Dan did not go unnoticed.
Although Qs continued to control the game for the rest of the half the high penalty count allowed BA to relieve the pressure and keep the score down to 10-7 at the half.
At 10-7 and playing into the wind in the second half Qs needed to raise their game and they did producing one of the best halves of rugby this season.

Quintin were awarded a penalty five metres from the line and ???? was able to waddle over for a score. Quintin could smell blood, and it was noticeable that everyone had upped their game by 10%. “Sheep worrier choker, see you in four years” and JZ smashed the BA attack back time after time, and BA became frustrated. Soon afterwards one of their players was sent off for using the boot near the head, BA were now a man down.

The Quintin forwards had a huddle, and decided that it was now time to go for the jugular. However, Dykie before the game had said to me that he feared that he was losing his title of default “D1ck of the Day” to Smythe. In an effort to reclaim his crown, he did a Lee Majors type dive into a ruck before b1tch slapping a BA player in a style that would make Bruno Tonioli proud. All this when we were 5 metres from the BA line! Dykie was shown the yellow - both teams were now down to 14 men.
Quintin started to camp on the BA line, and soon afterwards, ???? crossed in the corner for his first try of the season. Soon afterwards, JZ had another storming run for most of the length of the pitch to pick up his second try of the day.

Man of the match: Rob: Peerless in the lineout – storming in the loose
