20/10/2007:
Quintin 1st/club side 29 - 31 Belsize Park club side
With the World Cup final causing a shadow over the afternoon games, it was predictable that getting two teams out was going to be difficult. However, we weren't quite expecting to take to the pitch with 12 players, one of which had over 35 years of playing experience. With the threat of a landslide defeat being predicted, Quintin decided to show one of the gutsiest performances in recent times. For the first 20mins the opposition didn't know what hit them as the home side decided to run the ball from every position on the field. This lead to a number of outstanding solo and team tries, with the backs once again showing their devastating pace.
Although players did end up tiring into the second half and some truly horrific decisions by the referee, Quintin proudly came within a conversion of drawing a very enjoyable game.
The whole team deserved the Man of the Match award but some for special note:
Gordon, for staying alive for the whole 80 mins. As well as catching a ball of the kick off when he stated he couldn't see anything without his glasses and had the sun in his eyes.
Ryan (again) for playing all three positions of the back row at the same time.
All the new guys, Brendon (for his Chabal impression and the amount of blood flowing from his hair by the end of the game), Ricko and Olly (playing even though he was at death's door with Man Flu)
Girl of the Match: Ricko for his outlandish footwork getting around his man only to then fall over. Not since the days of Adam in Infernos has there been witness to such dangerous dancing!!!!
