London French 7 – 28 Quintin
Q’s successfully completed the double in no small part thanks to efforts of Mr & Mrs Nimmo, with the third of the Scottish clan to make their debut. Brotherly competition seemed to inspire the best out of Kerr as he notched two tries with younger sibling Max not to be overshadowed scoring the third in a comfortable victory.
The day had started less well, for some reason every time we have a game at Barnes the weather is awful, with Q’s starting off playing into a strong wind. Q’s eventually managed to field 15 players with Sanger being dragged onto the pitch at the last minute, in a fruitless attempt to win the Colin Smith plate.
French took an early lead against the run of play with a breakaway try from their 22 following an interception. Q’s were dominating possession and pinning back the French even against the strong wind, much aided by the fact that Terry’s boot seems to able to hit 50m whatever the conditions.
Kerr pulled Q’s back into the game with a fine try with Max adding the second.
The second half was more one sided stuff with Kerr getting his second and Russell capping a good performance with a score for the forwards. Sanger did manage to convert all 4 tries, even though 3 were in front of the posts we have seen him miss before from there!
