French Resistance Quashed

Quintin 12 – 0 London French

The most impressive thing about the Q’s pre Christmas victory was that the normally free flowing French were shut out fro m scoring and one second half attack aside never really threatened to cross the try line. If only our valuables bag was as well protected….

The result was never really in doubt after the French were blown away in the first 20, only a few poor decisions one notable horror from Smith and a few last ditch tackles kept the score at 0-0.

French resistance could not hold throughout the half though and after some sustained pressure on the left flank, KP barged over having received a short pass.

Having resided at last years ‘Battle of Riverside Drive’, the referee had a quieter game where aside from Q’s giving away too many penalties, the only area that kept the whistle blower busy was the scrum.

Having taken a few games off to work on his innocent ‘who me sir???’ face Hudson and his opposite number spent most of the game debating the fine art of who could cheat more. Scrummaging ability aside Hudson gave an performance worthy of an Oscar to con the referee into taking the spoils.

Quintin dominance continued in the second half although the closing score didn’t come until the final minutes of the game with a fine flowing move took Q’s up the pitch. A ruck formed on the 5-metre line with Smith finally ignoring a gaping overlap outside burrowed overt to seal the game.

So remembering the positives from the game and not the debacle that was to unfold after the game, this was a very important win. Whilst we made a bit of a meal of it, in the past in could have been one of those games that we would have lost at the end. More importantly, it sets us up nicely for the second half of the season.
