London French 19 – Quintin 10
The game started a quick pace, with London French dominating possession but Quintin tacking heroically causing French to spill the ball on more than one occasion. However, as mentioned above, our lineout was misfiring more than Gayvor’s Mazda, meaning that the backs were not getting much ball. The French were utilising a kicking strategy keeping Quintin penned in their 22. French’s persistence paid off and they were able to score an unconverted try. Quintin were next to get points on the board with a try from JZ and a penalty. London French also got a penalty meaning that Quintin were ahead going into half time 10-8.
French started the 2nd half at speed, and it was only some dogged/dogging tackling from deviant full back Dan that prevented French from crossing the line. Tempers were starting to fray at this point, and sheep worrier mullet man bro Jason, perhaps having a premonition of the evenings upcoming choking of NZ, again, in RWC 2007, decided to dole out some shoe pie and was promptly yellow carded. French took advantage of the missing forward by driving over from a lineout near the Quintin line. Soon afterwards one of the French players was yellow carded for lying on the wrong side of the ball but Quintin were unable to take capitalise. French had a further penalty leaving the final score 19-10.
Quintin showed far more passion during this game than against Northolt, but were still guilty of moaning when things aren’t going our way – something we really need to work on if we are going to start winning these tight games.
