SNOBS take upper class victory

Quintin went in to the game with slightly more preparation and were slow to start, going two tries down in the first 20 minutes, which ultimately cost them a result.

In a day when the team never really found a solid base to build from and were quiet apart from 10 second half minutes, they can take solace that even playing well below where they should be and some way from best they ran a strong St Nicks side to within 5 points away from home.

Q’s first try came in the second half after some good work in tight and then the ball spread wide, if this sort of play had been combined more often the score would have been very different.

The man with the whistle seemed to be able to annoy both sides, disallowing two St Nicks tries, the first quite rightly for a foot in touch, though the second was a touch questionable with the referee deeming the ball was held up.

His referring of the breakdown was a constant source of frustration for Quintin, with a very liberal line taken to hands in the ruck. Three separate warnings to Sti Nicks went unpunished by a yellow card as well with two examples of  blatant infringement where a try looked likely.

However Q’s can only blame themselves for a game that though it wouldn’t have been deserved they could have won, everyone has an off day though where things don’t quite fire, and given the way they dug in when things weren’t quite happening there is encouragement that they still look like title challenger

Captain Cooney commented , before departing for an evening in Brighton, ‘we gave them too much respect and it took us too long to get on to the front foot. However, like Adam’s attempt to neck a pint, this season is long and drawn out and so we have plenty of time to show this league how good we are. Last year we experienced defeat at roughly the same point early in the season. That hit us hard, but also helped motivate us to a number of victories after it. Lets hope that history repeats itself!!’
